For our client, Topsoe, IT Optimiser is now looking for a highly experienced Senior SAP Service Manager. In this new established position, you will have the chance to influence your own work, playing a unique role leading the overall daily SAP operations. 

Topsoe is a manufacturing company and the global leader in energy-efficient technologies to produce clean transportation fuels as well as ammonia, methanol and hydrogen that are universally seen as the most important fuels and chemicals of the future. For more than 80 years, Topsoe has produced catalysts to speed up productions and today Topsoe delivers a wide range of catalysts and process technology that is essential for producing clean fuels from crude oil and waste, removing harmful emissions from power plants, and raising the efficiency of industrial processes. Topsoe’s catalysts are used in the production of 50% of the world’s fertilizers, helping the agriculture industry meet the global demand for food. 

When it comes to technology Topsoe is also at the forefront. Topsoe went live on S/4HANA as a “lift and shift” in November 2019. Since then, they have revisited and reimplemented many processes aiming for SAP standard processes and in 2022 they upgraded to S/4HANA 2021. They are constantly streamlining end-to-end processes to obtain an IT landscape that supports digitalization, automation, growth and transparency. They are now looking for a new team member who will join them on this journey and become a key player in their path to success. 

The team and role

The new Senior SAP Service Manager will join the department “Corporate Applications” and a team of 25 dedicated colleagues who are located in Denmark and India. The team is part of Global IT with approx. 100 employees located around the globe. The “Corporate Applications” team delivers solutions and services based on SAP S/4HANA 2021 and Salesforce. Furthermore, they develop and maintain Manufacturing Execution Systems for their production plants. 

As Senior SAP Service Manager you will hold the responsibility for the overall daily SAP operations. The role is broad and combines aspects within Project management, Change Management, Delivery management, Test and Release management. You will be reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Applications. 

Topsoe is implementing a new Release strategy, which includes a bundling of releases with a central governance, with the aim of achieving more streamlined release processes. A main task for this position will be adoption of strategic projects to run and maintain state. Implementation and maintain of test and release management concept together with day-to-day service delivery run and maintenance. Although the role has a strong element of coordination with internal as well as external resources, it does not include People Management responsibilities. 

Besides the implementation of the release strategy, you will have the opportunity to influence future projects and responsibilities yourself. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

•    Adoption of strategic projects to run and maintain state in Corporate Applications service organization - e.g., Control hand over from projects to daily operations
•    Control and communicate release plan and maintain release process with business partners - e.g., manage and identify risk for release scope
•    Enhance Service Delivery process 
•    Follow up on KPI for Corporate Applications service
•    Receive and maintain Corporate Application services 
•    Develop software implementation lifecycle (e.g., analyze, design, build, test, implement, support).
•    Head the early watch follow up with hosting partner and keep hybrid landscape available
•    Support day to day troubleshoot and root cause analysis
•    Technical monitoring and setup
•    Follow up on day-to-day SAP basis tickets, major incidents and catch-all on tickets for the team
•    On-boarding external consultants and new projects


Topsoe is looking for a candidate who hold a Master or Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience. You must have vast experience within SAP Release and/or Service Management and also have some experience within project management and have a broad understanding of the SAP hybrid landscape. Experience with Solution Manager (SolMan) is preferred and experience with implementation of ChaRM is an advantage together with ITIL knowledge. On the personal side Topsoe expects that you are open-minded and have strong analytical skills. You thrive with many contact points and stakeholders, and have a structured approach to your tasks.
